NSFDC sponsors Skill Development Training Programmes through its SCAs for educated unemployed youth of the target group in emerging areas such as Garment Technology, Computer Technology, Electronic Test Engineering, Mobile Phone Repairs, BPO Call Centres and Automobile Repairs etc.
These programmes are conducted by reputed Government/Semi Government/Autonomous Institutions and the trainees are provided free training and stipend @ Rs 500/- per month during the training period. With effect from June, 2009 the stipend amount has been raised to Rs 1000/- per month per trainee.
The beneficiaries are also provided placement assistance and/or entrepreneurial guidance to start their own ventures with financial assistance from NSFDC through State Channelising Agencies.
MARKETING SUPPORT TO BENEFICIARIES
Free Stalls to Beneficiaries at Exhibitions/Fairs
NSFDC participates in National and International Exhibitions & Fairs and provides free Stalls to beneficiaries for exhibiting and selling their products.
NSFDC also has started participating in exhibitions/fairs at District Level.
Participation in these exhibitions provides the beneficiaries an opportunity not only to sell their products but also to interact with customers and assess customers’ needs/requirements for development of new products.
MARKETING TRAINING TO BENEFICIARIES
In order to provide beneficiaries with various inputs relating to marketing and developing/re-designing of artisan products as per customers’ needs, marketing training is provided.
In such trainings, emphasis is given on how to modify products to suit customers’ needs with input of better over the counter (OTC) salesmanship.
AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS IN SCHEDULED CASTE CONCENTRATED DISTRICTS
NSFDC organizes Awareness Campaigns in scheduled caste concentrated Districts to generate mass awareness among its target group about its schemes and procedure for availing loans. The features of such Awareness Campaigns are listed as under:
The District Administration and Field as well as Head Office of SCAs are actively associated for holding the Campaigns.
Publicity of the Campaigns is made through distribution of Handbills/pamphlets in local languages, advertisements in local newspapers, local Cable TV, announcements in selected scheduled caste concentrated areas/Blocks of the District.
Officials from various Government Departments in the District such as Industries, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Lead Bank etc. are invited to the Awareness Campaign.
In addition, Heads of educational institutions and training centers such as ITI, Polytechnics, Engineering and Pharmacy are also invited.
The participants of the target group are shown documentary film on NSFDC, told about NSFDC schemes and the procedure for availing loans.
The participants fill a form to give their particulars such as name, address, qualifications, experience, and more importantly, their interest in any particular business, amount of loan needed or skill training required.
The above data is used by the SCAs for formulating project proposals.
The Field Offices of the SCAs and NSFDC representative also counsel the participants and guide them in availing loans under various NSFDC schemes.
