Ms Saraswathi, aged 33 years, was unemployed and was eager to start a business. The monthly expenditure of her family was Rs. 2,500/- and she was keen to earn money with some self-employment venture. She learned about the MCF loan scheme of NSFDC from a government official, and applied to DBRADC for the loan in 2010. A loan amount of Rs. 17,500/ was sanctioned to her in that year and with the loan amount she started furniture business. She created tools and machinery as asset for her business.
The average monthly income generated from her furniture business is Rs. 11,000/-. Now she is able to spend more on food, clothing, and education. Her average monthly expenditure is now Rs. 6,700/-. She was supposed to repay the loan in three years, but after payment of seven installments @ Rs. 486/- per installment, her loan was waived off by the government.
Now, her children are going to a good school and she afford for better heath of their children. Her income and expenditure pattern has helped her for an improved social status and now she desires to expand her business. Ms. Saraswathi and her family are ever grateful to NSFDC for providing the loan.
