Shri Shishir Das, S/o M. N. Das, aged 27 years, was unemployed but married before five years. He was living in a semi-pucca house with four family members. He had no access to basic amenities like toilet, drinking water etc. Earlier, he was only able to spend Rs. 3,000/- per month.

He met a government official in 2011 who suggested him to apply for term loan scheme. In 2011. His loan application was sanctioned and got the loan under term loan scheme of NSFDC. With the loan amount he started transport business by purchasing a taxi.

The annual income generated from running his taxi is Rs. 1,21,000/-. On receiving loan, he is able to spend more on food, housing, clothing, education and other key items. He is now able to spend Rs. 8,300/- per month, and can save money from the earnings. In last five years, he has also bought ceiling fan, TV, refrigerator, washing machine and a two-wheeler. He was supposed to repay the loan in three years. He was repaying his loan instalments regularly, but after repayment of four installments @ Rs. 3,333/- per installment, his loan was waived off by the government. Being successful in the business, he now plans to expand his transport business.
