Scheme under which benefitted - LVY
Ms Vasala G. had skill of tailoring. She heard about the Laghu Vyavasay Yojana (LVY) from a government official and applied for loan to start a business. She was sanctioned a loan amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- in 2014 by KSWDC and that helped her to start tailoring business.
From the tailoring business, she is now able to earn Rs. 7,000/- per month, and contributing more than Rs. 4,000/- on monthly family expenditure. The consumption pattern in her household has been changed gradually with the increase in income and savings. Also, she had bought a washing machine out of her savings. She has to repay the loan in three years, and has regularly paid 12 monthly installments @ Rs. 2,777/- per installment.
Through her loan, she now understands her business more, knows how to make a profit and how to spend that profit to change her life and break the chain of poverty. Now, Ms. Vasala says, “life is good, I am comfortable. I am able to buy things for my household. Now we have better food. My children’s education has been improved. I can now feed my family well. It gives me hope for the future”.
