Shri Barath, a young fisherman from Pazhaverkadu, Tamil Nadu, availed of financial assistance provided by TAHDCO and the NSFDC under the Livelihood Development Programme. Prior to July 2025, his income was constrained by his reliance on rented boats and worn-out nets, which limited his monthly earnings to ₹12,000.
With the sanctioned loan and subsidy, Shri Barath invested in his own fishing equipment. As a result, his productivity increased, and his monthly income rose to approximately ₹20,000. He has successfully repaid four EMIs of ₹5,000 each, demonstrating financial discipline and commitment. Shri Barath’s improved earnings have brought stability to his household and inspired others in his village to pursue similar opportunities.
